Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Community Technology Preview (CTP) is now available!

Service Pack 1 delivers the Windows 7 SP1 updates to Windows Embedded Standard 7.  This includes the new RemoteFX technology for client, and the new embedded specific SKU Compliance Packages.

embedded Spark 2010 Summer Challenge: Tour de France!

I’ve configured my Advantech kit to run as a media device with a USB Tuner.   I’ve been watching the Tour de France race using it.  Here in Oz its on late night into the earlier morning:  The specs are: Advantech AIMB-2121 Kit  (Intel Atom 480, 1 Gig RAM) Using Windows Media Center AV Labs AVL680HD  USB HD Digital TV Tuner. WES 7 Installation: Preliminaries

  Try Windows 7 first Having specified the required solution (as submitted in Round 1 of the embedded Challenge), and purchased (or been given as with the embedded Challenge) the required hardware, the next step is make sure the system can do what is specified. Given that the solution platform is Windows Embedded Standard 7 which is really Windows 7 plus some specialised features (EEFs), my recommendation is to tests things by installing Windows 7 to the system first. embedded Spark 2010 Summer Challenge: Building the Kit

  View Full Album     The case is made of Perspex sides.   The parts interlock together.  I put it together in a temporary mode by slotting it together and then applying tape across the edges.  I’ll glue it together later. Windows Embedded Standard 2007 now on MSDN

If you have MSDN Premium (or above) or MSDN Embedded you can now download the non-trial version of WES7 from MSDN Subscriber downloads. Unlike the trial version where the DVDs are downloaded as up to  8 part files (rar) files each, the MSDN version is the DVD ISOs.
