2011 Imagine Cup Worldwide Final – Award Ceremony

The Imagine Cup award ceremony is the most exciting event, where the winning teams from each category of competition are announced. This year, the award ceremony was held at the Lincoln Center not far from Time Square.  There were interesting guests delivered speech and help handing out the awards, including New York city mayor, Michael Bloomberg, Eva Longoria, a famous celebrity and Halo master chief.

2011 Imagine Cup Worldwide Final in New York – Day 1

Imagine Cup is a year long competition.  For the 2011 Worldwide final, the competition started in 2010, with more than 350,000 registrants from 183 countries/regions. The 2011 Worldwide final was held in New York, from July 7 to 14, with 124 teams from 70 different countries competed. 2011 embeddedSPARK Final

The 2011 embeddedSPARK final was held in Redmond on June 22nd.  The Grand prize was captured by Sebastian Londoño from Columbia with his ArS8ver project.  Sebastian is a researcher at the Universidaad ICESI in Cali. The ARS8VER project aims to reduce the number of deaths and injured people when natural disasters occur, through intelligent technologies that optimize the search time for victims and manage to get a broader picture of the disaster, which is usually not accessible due to debris and suspended particles in the air. The ARS8VER project’s second purpose is to promote biodiversity observation research. Through augmented reality and real-time interfaces can interact with the environment allowing users to pinpoint areas of difficult access to investigate or observe the fauna and flora.
