The CAB File Generation

Note: The target OS needs to have the Install Catalog components.

1.Create a new CEComponentWiz project and add content.

2. Before generating the subproject, enable the cab file generation by selecting whether shortcuts are used etc:

\Program Files

• All files are installed in the directory under Program Files
  No shortcuts used.

\Windows + Shortcuts

• All files are installed to \Windows and shortcuts are placed as specified,

Copy files to shortcut locations

• All files are installed to the folders specified by the shortcut selection.
  No shortcuts used.
  

3. Generate (just) the subproject.

4. Add the subproject directly to the OS: OS project context menu—> Add Existing

5. Explore the subproject folder and open the .inf file created.

6. This is used to build the cab file

7. Configure the subproject to not be included in the OS.

8. Build the subproject

9. Run the OS

10. Get a copy of the cab file onto the device, it can’t be run from a remote folder:
       From a command prompt on the device in the root folder:
       copy \Release\MyProject.cab .

11. Install the project:
      From the same command prompt on the device:
       wceload \MyProject.cab

12. Check that the files are placed in their correct folders on the device using
       Tools->Remote ToolsàFile Viewer
