Applications can be developed for Compact 2013 as native C++ Win32 applications, XAML for Windows Embedded applications or as Managed Code C# or VB applications. In the following chapters (14,15,16 and 17) a console application that gets the system time is developed in native and managed code. This functionality is then partitioned into separate modules. A simple UI version of the application is also developed as a Native WinForm application, an XAML application and as a Managed Code application. The UI applications all implement code to exit the application. Unicode strings were also covered in this chapter as they are fundamental to Windows coding, particularly native code, yet are often glossed over.
