For Compact 2013, the term “Windows Embedded Compact 2013 Tool Kit” is used to represent the suite of software, tools, wizard and sample code provided to support various development tasks to create a compact 2013 device, including:

·         Application development.

·         Board support package (BSP) development.

·         Boot loader development.

·         Device driver development.

·         OEM adaptation layer (OAL) development.

·         OS design development.

In addition to the resources to support the above development tasks, the Compact 2013 tool kit also includes tools to support debugging and testing tasks.

All of the tools provided as part of the Compact 2013 tool kit are accessible from the VS 2012 IDE, where all the tools and resources designed to support BSP and OS design related development are grouped under the Platform Builder, and application development resources are grouped under the supported programming language and associated environment.

Within the VS 2012 IDE, tools and wizards that support Compact 2013 OS design and BSP related development are grouped under the Platform Builder group, as shown in figure 6.1 and 6.2
